For correct HDR display, an HDR-capable monitor is required with HDR mode active in
Windows Settings → System → Display → HDR → On
On SDR screens images will appear normal but without the extended brightness range.

For best results, lower your Windows display brightness until the headroom indicator reads around 4 stops.
Settings → System → Display → Brightness
